Warlords of Draenor!

So, as most of you no doubt saw there were more than a few issues with the launch of Warlords!

That being said, it is shaping up to be a fantastic expansion, with lots to do and plenty of thigns to see and find.

Playing on Draenor EU meant we had whopping queue times on launch, most of which I manage to evade, however one evening did see me taking around five and a half hours to beat the almighty Queue Boss!

Launch night on Draenor - only one part of the hundreds that were there!

My hunter was the first char I decided to level (of course!), and I went through each zone doing every quest I could find, not moving on until I got the achievement and bonus objective achievement for each zone!

Doing this found me many items and toys (which was fantastic!) including this toy that turns you into a tree!

I want to be a tree!

My hunter is max level, and has also done the lovely taming quest thing for Gara the spirit wolf! (I would take more in game screenshots but currently getting World Server Down message on the hunter, as she is in her Garrison and they seem to be having issues at peak times on Draenor still ^^)

I have also started levelling my shaman, and am loving the Glyph of Ghostly Speed which makes my ghost wolf run speed super fast! She has started her Garrison (I see this becoming quite addictive...not that I'm addicted already on the hunter!)

Here she is fitting in with the locals!

I am totally a Frost Wolf!

The shammie is currently 91, but also picking up herbs along the way for extra XP, as well as all the little toys and gear and garrison resources. Because of the added gathering prof, I foresee this char taking less time to level than my hunter, plus I won't be reading all of the quest texts this time around.

I'm going to try to update the blog more often but I give no guarantees :p What is everyone else's favourite part of the expansion so far? :)

Back to the Future, or Alliance, For a While!

Not permanently! I am still going to be playing mostly Horde in the future, but as I stated in my last blog post, I intend to have an Alliance main as well.

As such, I server and faction changed my 2nd 90 hunter, sending her over to Silvermoon and changing her from a Goblin to a Dwarf. I decided to go a bit different to my usual Nelfs and Draenei!

So here she is in her transmogged glory:

I have also decided to try and get my legendary cloak on her (though I wasn't as happy when I found out she was only on Chapter 1...).

So that's the plan to keep myself amused between now and WoD (or between now and getting Beta access!)

We shall see how long it lasts, but I would like to get this hunter as well geared a my main back on Draenor!

The Waiting Game

Howdy folks, long time no blog!

As most of you know I stopped writing quite a while ago as I was getting bored with no new content and running out of things to blog about.

With the ever increasing amount of information available about the Beta, my excitement for the game is slowly growing (even though I still try not to read too much about it).

However one of my friends now has Beta access so I'm going to be finding out more about the hunter changes than I would have on my own so I figured its time to brush off the blog!

Since the last time I played I have levelled a Holy Paladin to 90 via PvP (and discovered that healing BGs isn't as bad as I once thought!) I had a lot of fun levelling her and even started to gear her up before I got distracted - that is something I intend to go back to at some point.

I have also bought the Digital Deluxe edition of Warlords of Draenor for my main account! I recently also started a new job (yay!) so my time online and generally looking for stuff to do is lessened :)

I used my free char boost on a Dwarf Warlock I still had back on Steamwheedle Cartel so I have been busy taking her around the Timeless Isle getting her some gear. I also server and faction changed one of my hunters so she is now a Dwarf on Silvermoon - she is busily gearing up as I intend to have a horde and alliance main next expansion. I also bought myself a level 90 Night elf Shadow Priest on Draenor to mix thing sup a little!

Thus I have plenty to keep me busy over the next few months, as well as many achievements and loose ends I intend to tie up.

I finally reached exalted with Darkmoon Faire on my druid, and am working on some of the other reputations that I need to hit my 50 reputations achievement. I'm also 20 mounts away from my 200 mount achievement so will be looking to try and complete both of those at some point between now and the start of WoD.

The Drafia is kind of hibernating until WoD with many of the usual people taking breaks as the lack of content is just too much to take but I am keeping things going as best I can, and there are still some people logging on regularly.

If any of my readers have guilds on Silvermoon looking for a ranged DPS or Flex/Normal SoO drop me a message as I'm looking to get my Dwarf into the action and geared as much as my main hunter!

Other than that, I shall try to get back into the rhythm of posting more regularly, as well as throwing up Beta info as my friend finds it!

Ciao for now!

Starting Over - But Not Really

As I try and rehabilitate myself back into playing WoW, (for those of you that don't know I have a broken wrist and it is in plaster, making it awkward to play atm), I have finally been levelling some characters on my US account.

I have also been experimenting  with how to actually make some gold for these characters as they are starting from scratch.

Mostly I have been doing this on Kil'jaeden as I have managed to get my hunter invited to the Sub Only guild created by Towelliee (for those of you not aware of who he is, he is a streamer - you can find his channel here).

So my "main" character is called Aurorasofia and she is, yes, a hunter!

She has been experimenting with herbalism and the Auction House. So far she is level 19 and has 159g (roughly, still waiting on some sales).

She also seems to be operating a small stable in her back pack.

(Screenshot is old - she has received about another 15 mounts since then!)

My secondary character is a Rogue called Sofe that I  have purposefully levelled to 15 so that she is able to pickpocket.

She shall now be spending her days pick pocketing the level 90 Kor'kron mobs in the Barrens, and mining and herbing in between.

One pass through of the Kor'kron by the meat part has netted me 26g and some tidy gold in sellable junk:

And yes, she appears to be opening a stable as well!

Not sure how long I shall keep this up, but it's been kind of nice starting over completely, but still having all the knowledge I have gained since playing my main accounts.:)

The Liebster Awards

Many of you will have seen this doing the rounds and I think it's awesome.

I got nominated by Rinike of Rinike.com and to quote the quote of what the Liebster Awards are:

“Well, it is only an AWESOME award given to up and coming bloggers. Given by other up and coming bloggers. It’s a cool way to find other blogs and feel like you are getting into the blogging stratosphere. It is simple, you get nominated by someone else, mention their page and a link to their blog in your Liebster Award Post, answer the 11 questions they give you, then tag 11 other nominees and give them a new set of 11 questions to answer.”

I have found some rules posted elsewhere so shall  pop them here as well:

The Official Rules Of The Liebster Award
liebsterawardIf you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:
1. thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
2. display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
3. answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.
4. provide 11 random facts about yourself.
5. nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
6. create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.
7. list these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:
8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)

My only problem now is choosing people to nominate that haven't already been nominated!

Now I don't know how many followers some of these have (but I'm going to nominate them anyway!)

Ok, here are the questions that Rinike asked:

1. When and why you started blogging?
27th June 2013, and I decided to start blogging as I had read a few good blogs that I found via Twitter, and after deciding I wanted to write about WoW like The Godmother

2. If you would be stuck in an elevator and could pick any person (alive, dead or fiction) to be with you, who would it be?
Johnny Depp xD

3. What do you listen while playing?
Usually just the game music, either WoW or Diablo, tho I listen to Towelliee if he's streaming

4. What is your fandom (if any)?
well apart from the obvious WoW, I'm a big fan of anything fantasy, especially dragons, and also Sailor Moon

5. What colour is your toothbrush?
White :)

6. If you would have to choose, what animal you would be?
a dog!

7. Would you rather go about your normal day naked or have smelly breath and body odor for the whole day?
hmm most likely naked if i was on my own :p

8. What was your first computer/console game?
a Nintendo - the NES in fact ^^ and the first game was the original Super Mario :D

9. PC or console?
PC Master Race

10. What in-game (from any game) feature you would like to have in RL?
teleport/portal or a hearthstone!

11. Are you casual or hardcore gamer?
I'm a hardcore casual ^^

Okay and here are my questions for those I nominated:

  1. What other games do you play?
  2. What else do you like doing apart from gaming?
  3. What is your best WoW (or other game) memory?
  4. What is your favourite colour?
  5. Read all the lore or speed level?
  6. Are you a one character kind of person or an altoholic?
  7. If you could design one aspect of WoW, what would it be?
  8. Horde or Alliance?
  9. Do you have any pets in RL?
  10. What inspired you to start blogging?
  11. What is the first video game you ever played?

The Week I Stopped Playing WoW

Don't Panic! It's not forever, and I haven't even cancelled my sub.My Guildies also know if they need me they can add my battletag which is in my guild note and I shall log on :)

For the past week or so I have only been playing Diablo 3. This has mostly been to try and get my characters ready for Reaper of Souls and to get my Witch Doctor and Barbarian to 60 (mission accomplished!)

Initially when I started the project I was lamenting the fact that I would not be able to buy Reaper of Souls until after it's release date due to funding issues, but a very kind friend has since bought it for me so all things going well (and as long as the game code arrives today!) I should be able to play it at the same time as everyone else.

Now I've noticed that I don't take as many screenshots on Diablo as I do in WoW, despite some of the graphics being equally stunning - but in a different way.

My current favourite character is no longer my Demon Hunter! (Shock! Horror!) I have been immensely enjoying my Wizard so she may be the first one to try Act V (If I ever finish replaying the quests after I had reset them >.>) I am also looking forward to making a Crusader!

I've not really bothered saving much gear for a Crusader as with the new loot system I've found that my characters have geared up fairly well on their own as they level - however I have saved a couple of Flails, just because they happened to drop!

This is how my ladies look atm:

Even though I have levelled the Witch Doctor and Barbarian to 60, I'm still not overly fond of playing them, the Witch Doctor especially, so they may just sit there and do nothing, not sure yet.

If any of you are thinking of coming back and checking out Diablo and Reaper of Souls I would heartily recommend it as the new loot system is awesome and the gameplay is so much more fun with the new difficulty levels - levelling a new character in Torment 1 at low levels if you have a character at level 60 already is awesome!

I shall be coming back to WoW eventually (and will likely still be logging in for raids) but for now I shall just be playing Diablo! :)

In other news, my very good friend and guidlie Arideen has finally joined both Twitter and the Blogosphere! He has decided to keep from being bored in the coming months he is levelling a characters from scratch on a new server with no heirlooms to try and recapture the initial joys of levelling. He is going to write about it in his blog and chronicle his journey.

You can find him on Twitter under the name @LunaManifestum and you can find his blog over at Arideen's Hunt go give him a follow!

Reliving the Levelling Experience, With no boost to 90!

So as some of you may have seen on Twitter earlier this month, The Godmother proposed a challenge of sorts - level an alt from beginning to end, without using a character boost to 90, to relive the levelling and rediscover what it's all about.

It took me ages to decide whether I was even going to do it as I have way too many alts and half levelled characters as it is, but the mood has taken me to level another one so figured I may as well do this too!

Meet Alyxe:

She is a paladin, who shall be levelled as Prot. I haven't decided whether to stick mostly to questing or bash through some dungeons yet, but we shall see how it goes!

Can You Hear the Cries of Horror?

As most of you are no doubt well aware by now, this happened yesterday:

Most peoples' instant reaction was a kindo f shock and horror at that "release date" (hence the blog title ^^). The reason I'm putting this in quotation marks is that it was confirmed by @WatcherDev on Twitter that its basically a placeholder, but we're still looking at a "Fall 2014" release which would be September onwards.

So yes, it looks like we may be facing at least another six months of Siege of Orgrimmar - enough time for all those fresh level 90s to start and finish the legendary questline! Also, I may actually finish it on my Shaman and get my second cloak (maybe...if I can face more LFR which will soon be full of fresh 90s...).

Also the ability to purchase a stand alone level 90 is available in the Shop:

While I want to go ahead and buy the pre-order now to get my 90 boost, Its just outside of my budget currently (especially as I want the Digital Deluxe, which is £10 dearer than what we paid  for the DD of MoP!) so shall have to wait a few weeks to afford that. This week's money shall be going on the pre-order of Reaper of Souls!

In guild news, we had a bit of a blip this past week as two of my Officers left the guild to seek out higher progression raiding elsewhere (one of which was technically our raid leader). On the part of one of these it came as no surprise as he had been talking to me about it for a few days while he tried to make his decision as he liked being in the guild, so I advised to do whichever makes him happiest as at the end of the day, it is a game and he should be doing the things that he enjoys most. The other person leaving did come as a surprise as they didn't have the decency to forewarn me. However, I wish them both the best in their new guild.

Luckily, our raid team is still going with the help of our lovely tank Raidhoof who has recruited in a couple of his old guildies and taken over raid leading, so hopefully good times are ahead!

Now outside of WoW I occasionally watch a few streamers, but I mostly watch Towelliee. During the week I managed to get into a World Boss run with him (woo mini claim to fame xD) and it was much fun ^^

And yes I was sad enough to take a few screenshots :D (He is the Undead Monk to the right of the Tauren on a raptor, an yes I even screenshotted my friends list xD)

Saturday 8 March 2014

This Week I Have Mostly Been Playing...

Diablo!

Along with many others I suspect ^^

The new patch is out with Loot 2.0 (which is fantastic btw) and everyone has 50% xp buff up until the release of Reaper of Souls.

I love Diablo, I'd never played it before I got my free copy of Diablo3 with the annual Pass prior to Mists of Pandaria coming out, but even at first with all the issues the game had I fell in love with it.

I even got as far as Act 2 on Inferno on my Demon Hunter before giving up because I was fed up of dying to the leaping things in the desert.

I managed to complete the game on Inferno eventually many months ago when more changes were made and left the game again until recently.

The paragon level system adds a new level of gameplay and it's fun deciding where I want to put all the Paragon points on my various characters (after all, I am still an altoholic!)

These are my ladies as they stand currently:

The Barbarian and Witch doctor are still very low as I'd not really tried them much before, but I'm really enjoying the spell and skill changes and will no doubt work on getting them to 60 eventually!

I shall also be buying the expansion (but likely shortly after it goes live due to fundage!)

Tuesday 4 March 2014

Colourful Hunter Pets!

So I have mostly been playing Diablo 3 since the patch...

However, I also went and got myself a full team of Warp Stalkers for my hunter, all in different colours!

The Warp Stalker is my favourite type of hunter pet, I just think they look really cool and "different".

From left to right: Purplie, Blinkie, Stalkie, Stinkie and Warpie

Here they are in their multi-colour glory (courtesy of Stampede <3)

If you are on the look out for a pet that is slightly different, you can't go wrong with a Warp Stalker!

Information Overload (If You Let It Anyway)

Reading The Godmother's recent blog has inspired me to actually write another one of my own!

As she reminds us, we have recently been informed that there is basically a metric ton of information about Warlords of Draenor that the Dev team have ready that hasn't been shared with us.

This mountain of information shall soon be coming our way and as she points out, there are many different ways that people try to deal with all this.

I shall no doubt do what I always do when there are large patches/expansions upcoming - which is largely nothing!

Go away WoD Info, I know you are there but I choose not to see you!

Like the rest of the fan base, I know there is a lot of information out there, and I even skim read some of it, but largely, I tend not to actually read up on everything.

I don't mind big things being out there, and I will inevitably read some massive spoilers (either from clicking MMO-Champion or such like, or from Twitter) which I have no issue with.

However I don't tend to actively go and seek all the information I can possibly find on a new patch or expansion. This inevitably means that I log in on patch day and have no idea what has changed and just joyfully bask in the excitement of my guildies as we all tell each other what we've found out.

I will admit, I do tend to skim read over and look for anything that might be changing for hunters, considering that is my main class I play, and I sometimes read up on some of the changes that might affect my other alts (but not always!)

Mostly, I rely on the interpretation of said notes and information from the blogs that I read and use that as my basis for understanding what is coming rather than the official Blizzard released information (which usually leaves me with some varied feelings on the different aspects of changes incoming ^^).

I did read about the upcoming changes to heroic dungeons in Warlords of Draenor and the fact that they will need a Silver in Proving Grounds to be able to PuG them, which did worry me as it was something I hadn't attempted (having only just gotten Bronze when I initially did it). I do a fair amount of my dungeons as PuGs, despite being in a guild. (Yes I could ask guildies, but half the time I feel that I would slow guildies down so would be better off with randoms - yes I know that's a silly point of view :p).

So I logged in and after updating the guildies that were online of the upcoming change sent my hunter off to do Proving Grounds until she got Silver, and proceeded to one shot it. It seems having a large amount of gear since last trying helped the situation somewhat!

I intend to try and get the rest of my 90s through Proving Grounds at some point, but no idea when as yet.

In other News, I have been attempting to get the green fire scenario done on my Warlock (to much frustration). I have managed to make my way through to the last boss, but can't quite manage to kill him. Have also been attempting to learn how to play Destro which possibly wasn't the best time or place to do that!

However one of my guildies has written a lovely guide on our forums and I aim to have finished this before WoD comes out (either that or wait till I'm 100 and zerg the sodding thing xD)

So to round off, I may only read some of my usual blogs in the upcoming months in an effort not to read too much about the upcoming changes, but I still love you all :p

(That being said, gief all the information about Garrison!)

The Drafia Needs a New Logo!

As the title says, I'm looking for a new design for our guild logo!

Any ideas or designs would be awesome as we need updating I think :)

Our current logo/header is:

which is very nice, but I feel we need a change.

Current one is roughly 710 x 260.

We would also be interested in one that is roughly 1436 x 104

Only stipulation is that it says The Drafia, Draenor EU, and that it has the Mafia guy on it somewhere (preferably - i'm open to other options!)

So go ahead, show us your skills!

Bear-ly Made It!

I have finally managed to finish this dungeon (after many years and giving up back when it was a raid - at least I remember Zul'Aman being a raid!)

One of my guildies ran through it last night and got his bear mount, and I realised that it was an easy mount I hadn't yet managed to get.

Now as I have the sense of direction of a new born kitten (I get lost in game stupidly easily, even after all this time!), I persuaded my friend to come with and run it again on an alt so I could make it through in the required time and get me a snazzy bear mount!

Much running around and killing of things later I had my bear! And then discovered there were still more bosses to kill (cos who knew!? xD)

So for a short amount of my time I got a few new achievements and a lovely new mount!

Other than that, I've started yet another new alt (a monk this time, I intend to get her to 15 then level exclusively in dungeons while heling - a levelling route I've never actually taken before so should be interesting!)

The guild 10 man team finally managed to kill Garrosh so much rejoicing was had! I didn't manage to make it to that run, but I'm glad the guys finally got him down - now on to heroics!

Blending In Nicely

Still playing my lowbie Deathknight (who's levelling has been severely hampered by Pokémon - am one pokémon away from completing the Central Kalos Pokedex!)

She has however reached a respectable level 68, and I'm going to wait until she hit's 70 before sending her packing to the cold north. Her current levelling path has her questing in Blade's Edge (and whoever thought that two quests to kill two different sets of 30 ogres was a good idea, oh my gosh :-p) and its a place that makes it hit home how large and (for the most part) empty a lot of these areas are now.

Here is my Deathknight looking small and insignificant on her Iron Skyreaver (a mount that is fairly large!) against the backdrop of one of the Blade's Edge canyons.

I've purposefully stayed away from a lot of the information about the new zones and thigns we may see (granted there isn't a LOT of information, but I always do this as I prefer to have a very vague knowledge and be pleasantly surprised when its released). However flying around today, I can't wait to see what a lot of these areas used to look like, when we head forth into Warlords of Draenor. I know the zones aren't going to exactly match what we see in Outland today, but part of me from a purely historical point of view wants to be able to match up what used to go where and try and figure out what made it how it looks today.

Other than that, Happy Commercial Love Day :)

In the Words of Granny Weatherwax....

"I ATE'NT DEAD"

I'm still faffing about levelling alts (current project an Undead Frost Death Knight).

However I've also discovered the joys of Pokémon on the Nintendo 3DS.

I've never played any of the Pokémon games before so this rather quick addiction has taken me by surprise. I'm currently working on finishing my Pokédex on Pokémon Y, while playing Pokémon X to find some of the 'mons that are exclusive to that game so I can transfer them over using Pokébank.

In general WoW news - how good does that Garrison art look!? From the mumblings and hints that we'd heard (seen), and the art of the new character models, I suspected that we were going to be getting some visually stunning designs. Mists of Pandaria has been a very pretty expansion and I've loved just looking at the scenery on my travels, even stopping to take screenshots randomly on occasion.

In fact I may spend the rest of this expansion going around and capturing the beauty of Mists before we embark on the next adventure.

Well, in between catching Pokémon anyway!

The One Where I Took Lots of Screenshots

Yes I know, I have enough characters, but I love levelling! Plus it contributes to the Year of Faff!

Since my last post I have made a new druid, who is currently residing in the all Druid Guild Druids of the Beast over on Shadowsong. She will likely go the same way of my poor Warlock in The Tweeters guild on Doomhammer and be rarely logged in, but I will level them both eventually and enjoy being able to connect with people I interact with on Twitter!

In other news, The Friday Fun Run group went to Mogu'shan Vaults! I know, a proper grown up raid!

I spent the Thursday and Friday actually levelling my priest to get to 90, and she hit 90 at about 4pm. Queue me rushing around alts finding Timeless Isle gear, and taking said priest off to the Isle for her free Burden!

The raid itself went fine, but I definitely felt a little overwhelmed healing wise, and definitely felt very low on mana on more than one occasion. I need to do some more reading up on holy at 90, but for now, I have switched her to disc and will try that :)

I've also spent some time on the alts, with the Druid looking for Aeonaxx, the hunter actually getting the mount to drop from Stonecore (Woohoo!!), and more levelling with friends :)

 Peekaboo!

Friend's shield just spinning in mid-air....

The Drafia are still raiding, and still working on killing Garrosh (got to Phase 3 this week! Progress!!) However, it seems this week, Thrall decided he was hungry and dived face first into our Noodle Cart!

I also finally figured out how to get up on the bridge by Huolon! (Yes I'm aware this is old news to most, but its taken me a while :-p) I spent a nice half hour there AFK while i browsed Imgur.

And because this post doesn't have enough screenshots yet, have this one that I don't even remember taking!

In wider WoW news, new character models for human female have been released! Even when I played Alliance, humans were one of the last races that I would choose for a few reasons. The biggest reason is that I felt playing a human in a fantasy game was a waste of a character, but also, the fact that the model itself looked completely naff.

I am so glad that the new model looks so good, it gives me hope for the rest that we are yet to see (I'm even starting to hope that troll females will have more than one face to choose from!)

Apart from this, I have mostly been playing Donkey Kong on my 3DS, and am awaiting the arrival of Pokemon Y (the first Pokemon game I will have ever owned) to see what all the fuss is about!

The Important Things in Life

A few things have happened in real life this weekend that have made me appreciate what, and who, I have.

You've heard me talk about my Nephew many times. On Saturday morning, we heard the sad news that his other Grandfather (his Mum's Father) had suddenly died from a heart attack. My Nephew's Mum and my brother and broken up (amicably) and she was due to be moving back in with her Father - much shock all round.

Due to this we had my Nephew all weekend as the last thing his Mum needed to worry about was a two year old running around.

Even though I didn't know her Dad very well, it was still a shock and made me want to re-establish my own relationships, both outside of the game and inside.

My very good friends Landerolin and Siorai have alt characters in my horde guild, and we spent the day yesterday levelling together, nattering on Vent (until I had to go afk to help with dinner).

Kudos for those of you who can tell where we are!

I also have applied and been accepted for one of my old Alliance alts back on SWC to rejoin The Wanderers, so I can re-establish old friendships there also. My shaman has started the levelling path between 85 and 90 (currently 86!) though she was very confused when visiting the inn at Dalaran:

Yep, someone had managed to get Gymer the Storm King up here and he is dead in Dalaran - at least it looks that way. I'm starting to think it may be a bug as the corpse has been there for a few days now (and I doubt someone is purposefully bringing a new one here every time it despawns!)

My druid is settling in well in Draenor, she has a nice new transmog also!

Her gear is also coming along nicely, she has gone from ilvl 494 on SWC to a current ilvl of 517! She's done a bit of Flex raiding and has started making her way through LFR, and is currently queued for ToES for the legendary part (tho I doubt I shall get all the way to the end of the legendary questline, already have umpteen characters at various parts of it.)

My gold making plans for the next expansion keep going awry as I keep spending the gold....

I needed a Traveller's Tundra Mammoth okay? Honest!
